"My First Year in Nursing: Major Subject Ratings + Survival Tips"

Hello future RNs and current warriors in nursing! First year was a wild ride filled with all-nighters, reruns, group chats on fire, and of course... a few mental breakdowns here and there. But guess what? I survived! And so will you. Let me walk you through each subject I took, how I personally experienced them, and some tips that helped me stay afloat. Hopefully this helps you too. :) ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY FOR NURSING LEC Rating: 8.5/10 A&P lecture was one of those subjects that felt like a maze at first. Everything’s connected: muscles, organs, cells, systems—you name it. I quickly realized this wasn’t a class you could just memorize for. You had to understand it. What made it challenging was how detailed everything was. You needed a solid grasp of each system, or you’d easily get lost, especially once the topics started building on each other. Tip: Don’t move on to the next system until you really understand the one before it. I used to watch crash course videos after clas...

"Vitals & Video Calls: How My LDR Became the Plot Twist in My Nursing Life"

If someone told me a few years ago that I’d be living my very own Korean drama love story, I would’ve laughed it off while reviewing my nursing notes. But life had a plot twist waiting for me—and it all started on Instagram.  Who would've thought my very first love story would unfold through Instagram? It all started one summer, just a couple of months before my first year of nursing school began. I wasn’t really looking for love, I’ve always been the type who takes relationships seriously, especially with strict parents and my own dreams to focus on. I was your classic NBSB girl (no boyfriend since birth), and I always thought, “Dile sa'ko kay makasagabal ra na pagskwela.” But as fate would have it, love finds its way, even through mutuals and suggested friends on social media. A close friend of mine had moved to the UK to study, and through her connections, one day, a certain someone found me on Instagram. According to him, I popped up on his suggested friends because I was ...

I’ve been obsessed with K-dramas since elementary school—those late-night binge sessions where I’d get lost in the world of doctors, nurses, and all the feels . Little did I know, those dramas would not only fuel my love for medical stories but also inspire my real-life journey as a nursing student. Watching the ups and downs of hospital life on screen made me dream about the day I’d be in scrubs myself, learning the ropes, feeling the pressure, and (hopefully) saving lives. So, if you’re a fellow K-drama lover and a nursing student or just someone who’s curious about what it’s like in the medical field, here are the top 10 K-dramas that will have you both entertained and inspired to chase your own healthcare dreams . 1. Hospital Playlist (2020–2021) Image Source:  Hospital Playlist - Korean Drama Review ⭐ Rating: 11/10 (YES, it's that good) This drama is basically a warm hug after a long toxic duty. It follows five doctors who are best friends, and their everyday lives in t...

Exploring My Nursing Path: Specialties I’m Considering and How They Rank

As I continue my journey in nursing, I realize there are so many different paths I can take. Each field has its own challenges, rewards, and learning opportunities. This week, I explored the different nursing specialties and ranked them based on my personal interest, how I see myself fitting in, and my future goals. Here’s how I ranked them and my thoughts: Critical Care Nursing (ICU Nurse) — Rating: 9.5/10 Critical care nursing is the field that stands out the most to me. I’ve always been interested in working in an environment that challenges me to think fast, stay calm under pressure, and apply advanced nursing skills. I like the idea of being there for patients during their most vulnerable moments and working closely with a team in life-and-death situations. I know it won’t be easy, but I see myself growing a lot in this field. Geriatric Nursing — Rating: 9/10 Being close to elderly people growing up made me appreciate this field even more. I find joy in taking care of them, listen...
